Opportunities Abroad

Emory University offers many opportunities and several scholarships for students to study abroad during a regular academic year as well as during the summer.

A Summer in Vienna, Austria and Freiburg, Germany

Considering that the pandemic forced a two-year break of Emory’s longest running summer program in Vienna, Austria, and taking into account the new opportunity to partner with the Atlanta’s Halle Foundation, the department was able to reconfigure its own summer program. Starting in summer 2022, we will complement our weeks in Austria’s capital by a stay in Freiburg, Germany. In addition to intermediate and advanced German coursework, there is a rich cultural program for all participants. Semester Study Abroad

During the academic year students can study for one semester or for the entire year in programs offered through the Institute for the International Education of Students (IES) in Berlin, Vienna and Freiburg. Students in IES programs can take courses both at IES Centers and at the local university. These courses are treated as if they were Emory courses. For more information about the IES programs, please contact Emory College Study Abroad.

Internships and Fellowships Opportunities

There are also numerous internship and fellowship opportunities during your undergraduate studies and after graduation. Be sure to explore the many options by clicking on your desired type of experience.

One program to highlight is the German-American Internship Program organized by the department's Advisory Council.
