Yiddish
The department offers courses in Yiddish and on Yiddish culture. You can find out more information about them in the Course Description and Class Schedule.
There are also extra curricular activities offered. Last year, Emory became home to the world's only all-Yiddish college a capella group, A KLEYNE VELT! The group had its debut at November's luncheon of the Toco Hills branch of the Naturally Occurring Retirement Communities organization for senior citizens.
They sang a selection of traditional Yiddish favorites for a group of about 65 seniors. On the first night of Khanikeh 5770, A KLEYNE VELT! had its first Emory gig after Hillel's Friday night dinner. The repertory grew to include a lively Khanike medley, as well as a knee thumping, fist pumping version of Adam Sandler's Hanukkah Song, fashenert un farbesert af yidish!
